An ode to IAA 2019

The Frankfurt Motor Show was an array of new cars. However, there was a distinct theme, the rise of electric and eco friendly cars.

Lamborghini bowed to the pressure and trend giving its first hybrid which is The Sian offering 808 bhp.

The brand’s first hybrid model based on the Aventador. It features a re-tuned version of Lamborghini’s aspirated 6.5 litre V12 engine and an electric motor which produce a combined output 808bhp. The electric mot or is powered by a supercapacitator rather than a conventional battery giving 3 times more power than a lithium battery of the same weight according to the manufacturer.

Porshe revealed its first all electric model called the Taycan. It promises to give the Tesla Model S a run for its money with the most potent variant producing 750bhp and 1,050Nm of torque. It’s 0-62 mph time stands at 2.8 seconds and it will hit an electronically limited top speed of 161 mph.

The SEAT’s spin off performance brand unveilled an all electric coupe SUV concept car called the Tavascan. It is based on the most potent version of the VW group’s MEB platform. It is set to underspin the ID3. It features a 77kWh battery pack and an electric motor on each axle giving a total output of 302 bhp, a sub – 6.5 second 0 – 62 mph time and a claimed range of 280 miles.

 

Alpina B3 Touring

 

 

The new 3 series estate with a uniqque body kit, a tuned engine and a range of chassis upgrades. It’s powered by a tuned version BMW’s twin turbo charge 3 litre straight six engine, which produces 457 bhp and a 700 nm of torque offering a top speep of more than 300 km/h. Other aditions include a lowered suspension systhem, bigger brakes, a quad exit exhaust and Alpina’s trademark 20 inch multi – spoke alloy wheels.
